Why I Am Not A Painter

            A l l   C o n t e n t     ©2005-2021           E m i l i e  H a n s o n            e-mail             twitter                Minneapolis, MN               links & archives

a pile of mostly raw and probably bad poetry

            on the internet
in the hopes of creating something better

This blog is not CLEAN and is not meant to be.
Useful critique appreciated, i.e. specific comments and suggestions.

            You need not identify yourself unless you want to;
comments will be judged on value, not the source. (Although knowing the source can be useful.)
Unsupported heckling OR praise are not appreciated.

Also, I vaguely apologize if you're my friend and you see yourself or others we know here.
I am aware that that can be unsettling
but that's the risk you run being friends with a writer. Also,
maybe you're just being paranoid. Also,
there is never a clear picture of reality

memory, art, intention, product

no matter the language, when you lose
sensation, it's lost. ghost limbs

you feel itching when your brain
is thinking, especially

when the thoughts are not
in written words; vocabulary

you feel in movement or in sound,
but the denotation, it's lost.

the smell you almost smell
when your heart is

remembering, the voice recording
in your head: it's accurate

but you'll never make it
outside your body

Comments:
the future is an amp-

utated arm. the future
is the stump at your shoulder.
the future is the phantom

hand you can't
seem to make
form a fist

Bravo line break, sir. Is this reaction, or had you written this before?

Is this what you wanted to talk about last night when I was sleeping?

You didn't wake me, btw. I'd woken myself up to check my phone and I'd missed the window in which David had called :( and so went back to sleep.

Also happy christmas and I love you!

i wrote this in response

Cool. It's not done (your response). I miss you and me responding to each other. :) Have any opinions on a web address for a blog for our 3am epiphany exercises? I was thinking we could do a joint (locked) blog for it instead of e-mail.
